Welcome to the IMPACT Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln!
The IMPACT Lab is a dynamic and inclusive group of scholars dedicated to understanding substance use risks and outcomes from multiple perspectives. Our mission is to develop effective treatments and interventions that improve the lives of the individuals and communities we serve. Our team is composed of hardworking and passionate members with diverse backgrounds, areas of study, and experiences, all contributing to our collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.
GRADUATE STUDENT APPLICANTS
Dr. Dennis McChargue will be recruiting for the 2025/2026 academic year. Prospective applicants are encouraged to explore the lab’s ongoing projects, recent publications, and the Clinical Psychology Training Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Students interested in joining the IMPACT Lab typically have a passion for studying the development and outcomes of substance use behaviors, whether they emerge in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood, and approach these issues from an intersectional and multidisciplinary perspective. UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT APPLICANTS
First- and second-year students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who are enthusiastic about gaining hands-on research experience in the field of psychology are invited to apply to join the IMPACT Lab. Research assistants (RAs) are integral to the success of our research, often contributing to publications and poster presentations, and many have received UCARE funding for their efforts.
Undergraduate students in the lab work within a junior colleague model, where more advanced students mentor newer members, and all RAs gradually take on increased responsibilities. Opportunities include assisting with data collection and analysis, preparing research materials, and, for those with additional experience, coordinating projects or seeking UCARE funding.
